I hold a CELTA Level 5 Certificate for teaching English as a foreign language. I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate. I also have 2 undergraduate degrees:
I have teaching experience both in the classroom and online.
I currently provide regular English lessons to Ukrainian guests (face-to-face and online) as a volunteer in my local town, approved by Worcestershire Council’s Adult Learning.
I have enjoyed learning new languages since I started learning French at the age of 8. I spent 2 years in Austria in my teenage years and became fluent in German. I also have some knowledge of Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Ukrainian and Norwegian – this gives me a better understanding of how best to learn a language but also to identify the problems that learners of different nationalities may have with learning English.
My degree in psychology has helped me to understand the importance of cultural identity and learning a new language is very much part of this. I have moved to a foreign country myself and experienced learning a new language and integrating into a new culture. Certain aspects of psychology can also be exploited to make learning a new language easier.
